A Johnsons Holiday in the life of our amazing Driver Tony!

Date Added 17/08/2022

Beaumaris & Isle of Anglesey: 4th - 8th July 2022

First comfort stop on the journey to Wales. Safely parked at Sandbach for a quick toilet break and to stretch our legs, We then ventured on to our next stop for our lunch break in the lovely City of Chester.

After lunch we carried on to our destination where we arrived bang on time at The Bulkeley Hotel Beaumaris. Once settled into our rooms and a quick change, and it was time to explore the delights of the town before Dinner. Here I had a delicious plate of tender Welsh lamb. What could be nicer!

Day 2 and We safely parked in Castle Sq. right by Caenarfon Castle on the Welsh mainland. Don’t worry about the clouds it never rains on a Johnson’s holiday. The sun soon came out as to our lovely customers relief! Then off we went for lunch...

After lunch and we travelled up the Menai Strait to Penrhyn Castle near Bangor. Do you think our Luxury traveller will get through the Archway entrance? Of course it will! There's a fantastic Railway museum within the Castle courtyard proves irresistible. The winding little approach road up the hill to the Castle is no problem either! Maureen welcomes a couple of happy travellers back for the short journey back to Anglesey and our hotel.

Day 3 and We are off for our Boat trip around Puffin Island. Once we were back on dry land (much to the relief of most) after a lovely trip and back to the hotel it is.

Day 4 finds us safely parked at the fine country house of Plas Newydd right on the island side of the Menai Strait. You may see a cabin used in The Lord of the Rings. Leaning out of the window you may spot a Troll (or is it an Org?) Note also the Captain Morgan pose though I’m not sure he ever plundered here! Afternoon, and still on Anglesey we visit the hidden gardens of Plas Cadnant. Beautifully restored and for some the hi-lite of the trip. Happy customers relaxing in the tea shop after visiting the lovely surroundings. Back for supper and that tuna steak was simply to die for!

Day 5 and we start the journey home. Still time for a brief visit to Llanfair PG railway station which has become a tourist trap in its own right. Across Snowdonia and time for a 30 minute comfort stop at Betws-y-Coed. My sort of railway station and even a miniature train. No time to take a ride sadly. All aboard for Llangollen and our lunch time stop. Our arrival finds the National Eisteddfod of Wales in full swing much to the delight of our customers. A final look at the River and time to return home to Henley for an on time arrival bringing to a close a thoroughly successful and enjoyable holiday to North Wales aboard our fabulous coach.

Thank you Tony for your brilliant blog of our Holiday! It's lovely to see all the excursions and our customers having a great time no matter what the weather!
