We travel to Dover and cross the Channel to Calais by ferry before continuing south through France to the historic Champagne city of Reims. This evening we check into the Mercure Reims Parc des Expositions Hotel, where a three course dinner is served before an overnight stay. |
Monday |
After breakfast, we begin our journey through eastern France, crossing into Switzerland amid ever changing scenery. Arriving in the beautiful Bernese Oberland, we check in to the magnificent 5 star Romantik Hotel Schweizerhof, ideally situated close to Lake Thun. Enjoy time to relax and soak up the alpine atmosphere before dinner this evening. |
Tuesday |
Today is free to enjoy our stunning surroundings. You may wish to explore nearby lakeside towns, take a gentle walk, or simply relax and enjoy the hotel's excellent leisure facilities. Our luxury base provides the perfect setting to unwind amid spectacular mountain scenery. |
Wednesday |
A true highlight of our holiday as we enjoy a scenic cruise on Lake Thun, surrounded by snow capped peaks, traditional villages and fairytale castles. A three course lunch is served onboard as we glide across the lake, arriving in Interlaken West mid afternoon. Afterward, we return to our hotel to relax before dinner. |
Thursday |
We travel to Meiringen, famous as the setting for Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's legendary Sherlock Holmes story. Here we visit the Sherlock Holmes Museum, learning about the detective's dramatic connection to the nearby Reichenbach Falls. Enjoy time in the town before returning to our hotel for our final night in Switzerland.(There is a steep staircase to Sherlock Holmes Museum and no lift available.) |
Friday |
After breakfast, we bid farewell to Switzerland and journey back through France. Arriving in Reims, we once again stay at the Mercure Reims Parc des Expositions Hotel, enjoying a farewell dinner this evening. |
Saturday |
Following breakfast, we travel to Calais for our ferry crossing back to Dover, before continuing home, filled with wonderful memories of Swiss lakes and alpine legends. |
