Alfie Bartlett

Johnsons and Whittles are delighted to announce the appointment of Alfie Bartlett as our new Head of Operations, bringing with him 24 years of industry experience across both coach and bus operations.

Throughout his career, Alfie has held a variety of middle and senior management roles, developing extensive expertise in operational leadership, compliance, driver management and delivering high performing transport services. His wealth of experience and passion for continuous improvement make him a valuable addition to both businesses.

Speaking about joining Johnsons and Whittles, Alfie said:

"I was drawn to Johnsons and Whittles because they are both well known operators with an excellent legacy and reputation. There is a strong foundation already in place and I’m excited to become part of the journey ahead."

In his role as Head of Operations, Alfie will oversee all aspects of operational delivery across both companies. His responsibilities include managing driver training and development, compliance and operational performance, while supporting growth and ensuring the highest standards are maintained across the business.

As he settles into his new role, Alfie’s focus is firmly on understanding the strengths of the operation and identifying opportunities to build even further on existing success.

"My priorities over the first few months are understanding what we’re doing well, where we can improve and reviewing how we can implement an even stronger structure, one that benefits our drivers, staff and customers alike."

A key part of Alfie’s leadership approach is collaboration and listening to the people who make the businesses what they are.

"I’m most excited about meeting everyone at Johnsons and Whittles, listening to ideas and taking people on the journey with me as we continue moving the business to the next level."

When asked what makes a successful operation, Alfie believes it comes down to planning and teamwork.

"A good operation is built on planning, preparation and flawless execution, supported by teamwork and clear communication. Ultimately, it’s about delivering a quality service to our customers and ensuring we have the right driver and the right vehicle in the right place at the right time."

Having already spent time with colleagues across both businesses, Alfie says he has been particularly impressed by the people and culture.

"My first impressions have been incredibly positive. The teams at both Johnsons and Whittles genuinely care about what they do and what the companies stand for. It’s fantastic to see so many smiling faces, even in a busy environment, and there’s a real ‘can do’ attitude throughout the business."

We’re delighted to welcome Alfie to the Johnsons and Whittles family and look forward to the experience, ideas and leadership he brings as we continue to strengthen our operations and deliver the best possible service for our customers.
