Hotel Paganella
This intimate and friendly, 3 star, family-run hotel is ideally located for touring this area due to its proximity to the main motorway network. Fausto and his family ensure a warm welcome in this typically Austrian chalet-style hotel. Bedrooms are well appointed and all 26 contain a TV and hairdryer. There is a cosy bar, a traditional restaurant serving excellent homemade fayre, a comfortable lounge and seating areas.

Day One: Arrival |
Departing Henley in the early morning, we make our way to Dover for the short ferry crossing to Calais. We then continue through France towards Metz and check in to our overnight hotel, Novotel Metz Amneville. |
Day Two |
After breakfast, we continue our journey south towards the Dolomites and check in to Hotel Paganella, our base for the next five nights. Enjoy a welcome glass of prosecco on arrival. |
Day Three |
Today, Fausto will be our host as we enjoy a gentle walk around this friendly mountain village. Afterwards, we relax over an included picnic with good company, food and wine, easing into the relaxed 'Paganella way of life' in the mountains. |
Day Four |
Today we visit one of Italy's best-kept secrets - stunning Merano. This elegant spa town sits beautifully between the mountains, with a town centre full of shops, restaurants and cafés tempting visitors with local specialities such as strudel, speck and sachertorte. For a bird's-eye view of the city, you may wish to take the chairlift up to the panoramic viewpoint. In the afternoon, we continue to the historic, family-run winery Cantina Martinelli, where we enjoy a tour and tasting of South Tyrolean wines. |
Day Five |
Today we drive north towards Moena, in the heart of the Dolomites, before ascending towards the vibrant town of Canazei. From here, it is only a short drive to the magnificent Sella Pass, an incredible viewpoint offering sweeping 360-degree views across the Dolomites' spectacular jagged peaks. We continue into alluring Val Gardena, a historic valley known for its woodcarving traditions and unique Ladin culture and language. Later, enjoy a break in the picturesque village of Ortisei, where you may like to relax over a delicious slice of strudel or browse for local specialities such as handmade cuckoo clocks. |
Day Six |
Our route this morning takes us past the lesser-known but wonderfully scenic Lake Molveno, before continuing on a relaxed journey towards the northern shores of Lake Garda. Riva has an attractive lakeside historic centre and is noted as the most northerly point in Europe where olive trees grow. Enjoy free time to explore, perhaps pausing for lunch or a drink in the main square. |
Day Seven |
After breakfast, we bid farewell to the Dolomites and begin our journey back through Europe, returning to Novotel Metz Amneville for our overnight stay. |
Day Eight |
We continue to Calais for the short ferry crossing to Dover, before returning to Henley in the late evening. |
