Built in 1452, the award winning Angel Hotel is on one of the prettiest squares in the country, opposite the Abbey Gardens. The hotel has been visited by Kings, Queens, actors and writers. One such guest was Charles Dickens, who mentioned The Angel Hotel in The Pickwick Papers. Mobility: The entrance to the hotel has 5 or 6 steps, however there is a side entrance which is step free but does have 3 unavoidable steps up to the reception. Lift access to 50% of rooms. We travel by luxury coach to Bury St Edmunds, arriving mid?afternoon. Time to settle into the hotel or explore the historic town centre before dinner. |
Tuesday |
This morning we visit Helmingham Hall, with its beautiful moated gardens and parkland, regarded as one of Suffolk's finest private houses. In the afternoon we continue to Bressingham Gardens, home to a remarkable collection of gardens, including the Dell Garden and Foggy Bottom. |
Wednesday |
Today we visit Ickworth, famed for its striking Rotunda, Italianate terraces and extensive parkland. There is time to enjoy the gardens and surrounding estate before returning to the hotel mid afternoon. |
Thursday |
We spend the morning exploring Lavenham, one of England's finest medieval villages with its half-timbered framed buildings. In the afternoon we visit the Suffolk Owl Sanctuary, with over 80 owls & |
